i’ll share something
personal with you
Some music is made outside the bounds of my workstation and recording studio.
It could be made while training for the Portland Marathon in the pouring rain...it could be informed by the laughter of my two kids as I re-kindle the kid in me, maybe it’s even generated as I comb through seashells at the Oregon Coast, or while dancing with my wife to some “Daft Punk is playing at my house.”
There’s a lot that I do outside of work that brings itself full-circle into the music I make. I love gardening, hiking in the deep woods and craggy mountains, climbing, distilling oils, movies at the theater, pizza shops, vinyl records, neighbors, the smell of bookstores, thift shopping (minus the smells).
My educational pedigree is vast. A hint of neuroscience, some linguistics, a jaunt through memorizing every nerve, muscle and blood vessel from the waist to the top of the skull (anatomy and physiology), technology and media, psychology. I love learning and if I could get paid to read textbooks I’d do it! I also love old stories, King Arthur, Norse mythology, Native American history and Celtic lore. Part of me thinks we don’t completely know the true forces we interact casually with in our day-to-day. I walk with respect and honor to the unknown. I love to bring all into the fold, to leave no one behind — to love instead of fear.
